Today, Thunderstorms
Well, here I am again. I am determined to get this blog going!
To just dive right in here, I'll have to say I am beginning to dread thunderstorms. We were all (Ward, me, the 3 kids, plus Heather, Eric, and their 3 kids) caught at the park in a severe thunderstorm early in April. To be honest, it was pretty scary, with incredible winds whipping through the trees and kicking up gravel from the parking lot into our faces, with tiny bits of hail also. The sirens went off as we were running across the field and parking lot to get to our vehicles, and I was wondering if we might be better off running to the concrete bathroom building. Luckily the hail didn't get bigger, no tornados came up over the hill, and we just got a little wet and scared. The kids, however, are now extremely nervous and upset by storms. My sister's son, Ray, is even upset when the wind blows on a sunny day right now. Her son Drew is terrified of anything that even sounds remotely like thunder...garbage trucks going down the road, jet planes in the sky. So we had a bit of a storm late this morning...not severe, just some thunder, lightning, and rain...and Drew was pretty upset, with his hands over his ears and crying. I kept trying to reassure him that it wasn't a bad storm, just a little rain and thunder, but he's 2 so it's hard for him. At the same time I was trying to calm him down, Ryan was wanting me, and my sister's baby Patrick was wanting a bottle. And of course it was also lunch time. So, off to the bedroom we all went, to comfort and snuggle with the pillows and blankets. I'm a bit worn out from it. Thankfully I now have 2 of the 4 kids asleep, and as soon as I'm done here I'll set Allie up with the computer for a game while I try to get the other baby back to sleep. I think I really need a NAP today! :)
